The science behind these claims, as you might have guessed, is close to non-existent. Though, to be fair, there is some. It just isn’t what you would want it to be.
Unless you were assigned male at birth, chances are those breast oils aren’t going to help you.
Basically, some essential oils have been linked to breast growth — in men. It’s thought that specific oils like lavender and tea tree oil have the ability to interact with our sex hormones, increasing the production of estrogen. That’s a lady sex hormone, in case you didn’t know.
When these oils are applied topically, there seems to be a link to causing breast growth in men. This effect has yet to be studied in those that were assigned female at birth, but here’s the thing: additional estrogen doesn’t necessarily increase breast size since your body is already used to the hormone being there in large amounts. So, more likely than not, using essential oils on the ta-tas won’t lead to an increase in volume or firmness.
So, Should I Skip the Oil?
I mean, that’s up to you. If you want to give it a try, see if anything happens, you could. You’ll likely just end up with greasy boobs, but maybe that’s your thing. Not everyone can pull off that 80s hair band album cover look, but perhaps you can. And if so, more power to you, sister.
But if that isn’t what you’re going for here…yeah, skip the oil.
Does That Mean I’m Out of Luck?
