Smiling woman wearing sunglasses with low scoop neck long sleeve shirt. You might have seen that Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice recently had her “bubbies” upgraded ten years after her initial boob job. So is it true that breast implants have to be replaced every decade? If you’re considering a bubbie upgrade yourself, here’s what you should know first.

Breast Implants Don’t Have an Expiration Date

Some women may never need a second boob job. It’s really a case-by-case basis.

In an interview with Andy Cohen, Teresa Giudice alludes to the fact that breast implants are supposed to be changed every ten years. But the truth is that it really all depends. In Ms. Giudice’s case, she’d lost a bunch of weight and packed on muscle for a bodybuilding competition. When that was over, she went back to her tequila drinking and pasta eating habits (hey, no one’s judging!) and put a few pounds back on.

All that zig-zagging back and forth can definitely take its toll on your ta-tas, especially if you have implants. So for her, a boob job revision was probably worth it.

When It Might Be Time for a Second Boob Job

While not all women necessarily need another boob job to keep their same great results, there are some instances when upgrading your implants could be worth it, like:

  • If you’ve lost or gained a considerable amount of weight
  • If you’ve had children since your first boob job
  • If the aging process has left you with some droopage
  • If you want to go smaller or bigger
