Woman in black crop top and orange flowing skirt holding a longboard walking throught the city. We’re all about fulfilling your hopes and dreams. But when one of those aspirations is to tattoo your eyeballs blue—even if that means going blind for three weeks — you might want to rework your wish list just a tad. And hey, maybe instead of risking blindness, you could channel that energy into something a little more productive for yourself, like nonsurgical facial rejuvenation or facial cosmetic surgery.

But First, What’s up with the Eyeball Tattoo? #FRFR

A 24-year-old model from Brisbane, Australia voluntarily had the whites of her eyes tattooed blue, presumably so she’d fit a little better with her Instagram moniker, “Blue Eyes White Dragon.”

Well, as might be expected with this kind of procedure, things didn’t exactly go as planned. The tattoo artist — eyeball inker, shall we say? — accidentally poked too far into her eyeballs, causing her to go blind for three weeks straight. OUCH. And the best part? She says she’d do it all over again, too.

Some Nicer Treatments to Try Instead

Now that we’re done with the down and dirty details, let’s talk about some much less risky and lots more productive things you could do to your face. Oh, and don’t worry about possibly going blind. That’s sort of an important perk, no?

BOTOX®/Fillers

Everyone and their mother are getting BOTOX® and/or fillers these days, and it’s easy to see why. The needles involved in these treatments don’t come anywhere near your eyeballs and can have you looking younger and rejuvenated in a snap.

Still, use caution when picking a provider for these treatments — you don’t want to end up with a botched BOTOX job or blue eyeballs, right? Step away from the BOTOX parties, ladies. Please, go to a plastic surgeon’s office for this stuff.

Eyelid Surgery

Be prepared to take a week or two off work to relax and recover after eyelid surgery — but don’t worry, you’ll still be able to see.

Let’s be clear: we’re not knocking the fact that this lovely lady had some work done to her eyes. We’re just sketched out by the fact that she chose to stick needles and blue ink right into ‘em.

For a better look, try eyelid surgery. That is, if you have droopy eyelids that make you look super tired or much older than you are, or that even get in the way of your vision.

Nose Job

People get nose jobs for lots of reasons, whether for purely cosmetic concerns or to fix a bump or lump from a past injury. Whatever your motivation for thinking about changing your face, an expertly performed rhinoplasty could be just the ticket to a major confidence boost.

Facelift

Tired of wrinkles, sagging skin and jowls? A facelift can address all of these problems, wrapped up into one facial cosmetic surgery. But if your lines and wrinkles aren’t super pronounced and your skin still has a lot of spring in its step, you might be better off sticking with BOTOX or fillers for now.
