3 Steps for Summer Skin Protection

Summer Skin Protection

Up here in the Mile High City, Denver locals are at far greater risk for skin-damaging UV rays than those who live at lower altitudes. With summer in full swing, it’s not a second too soon to be thinking about skin protection. Although at our medical spa offers BOTOX® Cosmetic and other injectables can be used to help minimize the early signs of aging on your face, the best approach is to focus on proactive sun protection instead.

  1. Slather on the Sunscreen

There’s just no reason to skimp when it comes to sunscreen, especially at high altitudes. If you already use a daily moisturizer, be sure it contains SPF protection. For outdoor activities, boost it up a notch with a higher level of SPF and remember to reapply frequently throughout the day.

  2. Cover Up

A hat can shield your face from the worst of direct sunlight damage, while sunglasses protect your eyes and also help prevent squinting that could end up leading to a visit to our Denver med spa or a plastic surgery appointment to help eliminate the resulting crow’s feet. Long sleeves, even in warm weather, can offer another layer of protection for your skin.

  3. Don’t Skimp on Cloudy Days

Even if the clouds are fully covering the sun, that doesn’t mean you’re safe from UV rays. You should still use sunscreen when it’s overcast, and not just because the weather in Denver changes every 10 minutes. UV rays penetrate even heavy cloud cover, so keep your skin protected.

Remember, sun damage is the number one cause of premature aging in the face. Take a little extra time for preventative measures now, and you’ll stay younger looking for much longer.
