You Want Plastic Surgery to Look Like a Snapchat Filter?! Seriously?

Plastic Surgery

Plastic SurgeryIt’s no secret that social media apps like Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram have sort of, well, taken over our lives. But what might be a little more surprising is that more and more people now want plastic surgery to look more like their favorite Snapchat filter. In fact, there’s a new term called “Snapchat dysmorphia” that’s totally, sadly a thing now.

Here’s what you need to know about this latest facial plastic surgery trend and why you shouldn’t jump on board.

Sorry Angie, Snapchat Pics Are the New Hot Look

Gone are the days of people bringing in pictures of Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox or the latest Hollywood hottie and saying they want her nose or cheek bones. Now, they’re all about looking like themselves, only suuuper edited and filtered, thanks to Snapchat.

The problem? Plastic surgery isn’t exactly an “instant fix,” like those nifty filters are. You actually have to undergo a surgical procedure to make permanent changes to your face. Plus, doctors have likened Snapchat dysmorphia to other types of body dysmorphic disorders. Bottom line: it’s just plain unhealthy!

Take a break from social media for a while, then see if you still want plastic surgery. The answer might surprise you.

Back away From the Selfie

Seriously, people. It’s time to take a huge step back from the selfie stick and start engaging with real life again. If you’re thinking about getting a fairy tale nose job or other cosmetic procedure, it might be worth your while to give selfies a break for a bit, then revisit your decision.
