From live snails crawling all over your face to wasp venom facials, there’s no shortage of downright crazy anti-aging treatments out there.
But unless throwing money away on things that probably don’t work is one of your favorite pastimes, you might want to check out these more affordable (and more effective!) anti-aging treatments instead.
Dermal Fillers
Injectable wrinkle treatments like dermal fillersare some of the most popular nonsurgical cosmetic procedures around. Although the initial injections can cost a few hundred bucks, you won’t need to come back for a touch up for several months—sometimes even over a year, depending on which product you choose.
Fillers like JUVÉDERM® and Restylane® contain something called hyaluronic acid, which sounds like it might have something to do with snails, but it doesn’t, promise! Hyaluronic acid is actually already present throughout your body, including your skin, and its main job is to pull in water molecules and hold them there. This is what gives your skin that nice plumping and smooth effect after filler injections.
Microneedling
Microneedling might sound a little scary at first, but it can deliver some seriously stellar anti-aging results. It works by poking a bunch of tiny holes in your skin, which triggers its natural repair process, including brand new collagen production.
Please skip out on DIY microneedling, unless infection and scarring sound like fun to you.
Laser Resurfacing
In the face of bizarre cosmetic treatments that constantly come and go, don’t forget about tried-and-true laser skin treatments. Today’s lasers can combat just about any skin problem you’ve got, be it acne scars, birthmarks, wrinkles, age spots or redness.
