You’ve seen those movies, where someone is on some happy gas in the hospital and ends up spilling the beans about an embarrassing secret to all the doctors in the room?
Well, if you’re worried about this happening to you during your tummy tuck or other procedure thanks to plastic surgery anesthesia, you can rest assured that your secrets are safe.
What Happens in the Operating Room, Stays in the Operating Room
Truth be told, most people under general anesthesia don’t do or say anything out of the ordinary. Think of the whole thing as a deep sleep. While you might occasionally blurt out something incomprehensible in your sleep, you probably don’t start rambling about your deepest, darkest secrets.
You might feel groggy for a few hours after anesthesia, but that’s about it.
The same goes for being under anesthesia. You won’t remember anything that happened while you were under, and you’ll probably just appear as though you’re sleeping.
But on the off chance that you do say something weird, don’t worry. Your plastic surgeon and anesthesiologist will keep mum. They know you’re not in a normal state of mind and probably won’t even bat an eye at your strange comments—if you make any, that is.
Is This Real Life?
Remember the “David after the Dentist” video that went viral back in 2008? After anesthesia, you might feel a little like seven-year-old David in the video, when he asks his dad, “Is this real life?” But aside from feeling a little loopy, you’ll be your normal self.
